Splashzone for Megans 8th Birthday

Megan will be 8 tomorrow. Really don't know how that has happened!
So for her birthday treat we went to Splashzone next to Gullivers World in Warrington. Megan invited three of her friends, so with Megan and Ben there were five children.
Splashzone is a sliding, climbing delight for children. The girls loved it. There are two big slides and lots of little ones, big climbing area, squirters and a big bucket that fills up and tips out! There are no actual pools, except a small, shallow pool, hence the fact this is for under twelves, no adults.
Ben wasn't too impressed, too much squirty water and he went down one of the slides quite fast and scared himself so he ended up coming out and getting changed and going to have a play in the soft play upstairs with daddy.
Megan and her friends had a ball! They spent ages running up the stairs, sliding down and going on again. They waited for the bucket to tip on them and just had a brilliant two hours fun.

After everyone had got dressed we went to McDonalds, which was about five minutes away for a birthday tea. As a special treat we all had mcflurrys too.

The manager said we could light the candle on the birthday cake so we all sang Happy Birthday to Megan which she enjoyed, even though she was a bit embarrassed!

She opened her presents and was delighted to get some books she had been wanting as well as some other lovely bits.

Megan had a lovely party and as she said on the way home, 'that was the best birthday ever!' Can't argue with that!

This is a pic of Megan reading one of her new books.

Country kids

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

I am linking up with Fiona from Country Kids From Coombe Mill, which is all about getting outside with the kids and having fun! That is something we love doing here and try and get out on a regular basis.

Saturday 30th March 2013

This week we have been out in the garden a bit more. It has been cold, but dry so we have been hunting for worms, digging them up and keeping them in plant pots, till they wriggled away!

The swing has been in much use again. That is the best thing we got for the garden, all of them love it. And we have been perfecting our climbing and twirling skills!

We are off this coming week so we will hopefully outside a bit more this week, and at least a bit further than the back garden!

Week 13

Day 83

Megan was at a birthday party so we went to Go Outdoors for a wander around the camping stuff.
Ben was sat on the stairs blowing me kisses, before having fun running in and out of tents!

Day 84

Ben has been having a good go at writing his name recently and I think it's pretty good!

Day 85

Megan entered the decorate an egg competition at school with this fabulous creation of a sheep in a field with chicks and bunnies! Very creative!

Day 86

Third place from the whole of KS2! Well done Megs!

Day 87

Ben had his Easter sing along at playgroup. He was brilliant, especially singing 'Hot Cross Buns', his favourite song at the moment! The children sang lots of songs related to Easter and there were lots of very proud parents. Well done Ben!

Day 88

Ben's Sonic slipper has been MIA for a few days, so he decided to wear one slipper and one bed sock!
Thankfully it turned up later this week in one of the toy boxes!

Day 89

Megan was very lucky to go to Auntie Laura's beauty salon today as a birthday treat, where she had her nails painted, all different colours and glittery and had a bit of make up put on too. She looked gorgeous and very grown up.

I am linking up with Louise from Team Lloyd for Photo Of The Week. Louise will post a linky on her blog for us to link our photos up. If you fancy joining in, click here.

It is an opportunity to capture a special moment from the whole week, something that happened, something that you saw or something that you want to remember.

Week 13

We woke to yet another light sprinkling of snow one day this week and as we were rushing off to school and playgroup, Ben had a dance in the snow, and I caught the most gorgeous expression on his face.
Just beautiful.

Week 12

Day 76

Ben went to his friends birthday party, where he had a ball! At one point the children were dancing to Gangnam Style and Ben wanted to join in, but was a bit shy so did it sat down!

Day 77

Wriggly Caterpillar Game, a big favourite at the moment!

Day 78

Playing 3D snakes and ladders, which Ben got for Christmas. It is lovely that Ben can now join in with simple games and we have great fun playing snakes and ladders.

Day 79

Cousinly love! Grace kept jumping on Ben and giving him cuddles. Ben found this very funny! Ah, very cute!

Day 80

Megan and Ben both entered a colouring competition that was being run at Mr W's work. They had to colour Sponge-bob Square Pants in and they were both lucky enough to win a Easter egg! Ben was over the moon as he had a Mario egg with mug! Megan got fairies and a mug too.

Day 81

Whilst trampolining is on, Ben has a play in a little room with a couple of mini climbing frames. He usually meets the same little boy in there too so that keeps him entertained for an hour while I keep one eye on him and one eye on Megan trampolining.

Day 82

Lunch time! Ben was pulling funny faces at Grace to try and make her laugh while I was doing her lunch. He is getting very grown up and can be very helpful when the mood takes him!

We haven't really been outside much this week as I have worked quite a bit and the weather is just hideous so I am linking up an older post of when we went to Lymm Dam in February when the weather was much better than it is now!

Easter holidays are looming fast as well as Megan's Birthday on Easter Monday so we will have lots of outside time the next few weeks, hopefully with better weather!

Saturday 9th February 2013

We spent the afternoon having a lovely walk around Lymm Dam.
It was cold and muddy, but dry so we wrapped up with hats and scarves and headed out.
We took lots of bread to feed the ducks and they certainly enjoyed it, almost as much as Megan and Ben enjoyed feeding them!
Megan was a bit freaked out by the swans, probably my fault as I don't like them, started by a flock of them chasing me years ago at Sale Water Park!
After feeding the ducks we strolled around the dam. It's a lovely walk, over little bridges with little waterfalls, fallen logs for climbing, and a few carved animals to spot too.
Ben was on the hunt for mice. He kept looking for 'mouse holes'!
Megan was looking for things to climb on and even climbed a tree!
We stopped and had a drink and some biscuits and talked about coming back when the weather was warmer for a picnic.
A fantastic afternoon stroll.
We also treated ourselves at 'The Gob Stopper.' This is a lovely sweet shop, with lots of sweets from long ago.
You can't go for a walk round Lymm Dam without stopping at the sweet shop too!
