This is a review of the first two books as we have both read one each.
As you all know I LOVE reading. For as long as i can remember books have been a big part of my life, (even though my mum says I still couldn't read at all at the age of 7!)
Megan and Ben are both developing a love of books, which is brilliant and Ben is at the stage of now asking what things say, so he is recognising that words have meaning. We have bed time stories every night and it is a lovely way to calm down before bed.
As a teacher, I also try and incorporate reading and stories into the school day, as with the pressures of school life, this can get forgotten, but I have found that children, no matter what class, be it nursery or year 6, love sitting and listening to stories.
This year I am also trying to make more time to read myself so I am undertaking #50Books2013, which you can read about

The first book I have read was
The Day You Saved My Life by Louise Candlish.
I was really pleased to receive this book by this author as I have read one of Louise Candlish's books before, Since I Don't Have You, and really enjoyed it.
This book tells the story of Holly, her mum, Joanna and Holly's son Mikey. Holly is suffering from quite serious post natal depression and is heavily reliant on her mum for help with her son. Her mum feels a holiday may help all of them and arranges a trip to Paris. Whilst there, they visit different places but on a boat trip, disaster strikes as Mikey falls in to the water. Someone unknown to Holly and Joanna jump in to save him and this is where the story properly begins.... and Holly's life, and therefore Mikey's and Joanna's starts to change for the better. Without giving too much away, this man saves Holly and helps her recover, with lots of detailed twists and turns along the way.
A fantastic book, which has lots of detail, which has made me want to read more of Louise Candlish.

The Abominators are a group of school kids, Mucker, Boogster, Cheesy and Bob, who get up to all sorts of mischief. The antics that they get up to really made Megan laugh, and me too, when she told me, like tipping vegetable oil all over the hall floor, causing it to become a skating rink and resulting in the head teacher breaking his leg, arm and collar bone!
The story includes the new boy, Cecil who wears panty wanty woos! Cecil wants to be in their gang, but the gang don't want him so they set up three impossible challenges for him. Cecil however overcomes all of these with resourcefulness and sheer luck so he is eventually admitted into the gang as an associate member!
The book has lots of lovely pictures so it is not too over facing for younger readers. Megan really enjoyed this and wants to read another Abominator book! This is a book Ben will enjoy in a couple of years as the 'naughtiness' will really appeal to boys!
We would both recommend you reading these books as they are brilliant!
