New Years Eve

New Years Eve has changed so much since having children.
We used to spend it in the pub with friends and celebrating long into the night. These days we are lucky if we are still awake!
We usually see Laura and Darren on New Years Eve as it is a relaxed evening with the children.
Last year we just stayed in and played monopoly. Grace was only a month old and Laura and Darren were grabbing as much sleep as possible! Megan stayed up for a while but fell asleep before midnight and Ben was obviously in bed.
This year we decided to go to Lauras as everyone was coming to us on New Years Day and Grace could be put to bed if she was shattered.
We had a lovely evening with nibbles and a chilli Laura had made. The children played on Just Dance 4 and we all chilled out. Grace made it till about 10pm and was then put in be
As midnight approached we put the telly on for the count down. Megan and Jack found this good fun as they understood what was happening.
At midnight we all hugged and went outside to see the fireworks and set off our Chinese lanterns.
We rounded off with a bottle of bubbly.
We were home for about 1.30am where everyone got tucked up into bed.
A lovely evening.

  1. Ahhhh sounds like a nice, relaxing night :-) Our was pretty similar, sans kids. We went to a friend's house, they're expecting their first, watched Looper and then revisited our youth by watching old music videos from the 80's and 90's. We didn't all know one another back then so it was fun to reminisce.

    1. That sounds lovely. I love watching old music videos but hate it when I realise how old I am! x

  2. Funny how things change isn't it. We stayed in this year and last as I was heavily pregnant and I must say I think I prefer it.
This year we treated ourselves to some bubbly and just about made it to midnight (with me having a little snooze at around 10pm..I'm not used to drinking anymore)!

  3. Awesome blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I'm planning to start my own site soon but I'm a little lost
on everything. Would you recommend starting with a
free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid
option? There are so many choices out there that I'm completely overwhelmed ..
    Any recommendations? Thanks a lot!
