Camping in Barmouth

Over the August bank holiday weekend we went camping to Dyffryn Seaside Estate just outside of Barmouth in Wales. We met up with our lovely friends Fran and Al who were already there with their two boys, Louis and Remy, for a weekend of fun.
We have camped here twice before, with the Sephtons and the last time we were here the weather was horrendous and Suzanne and Stuarts tent blew down! I was really hoping the weather would be kinder to us and it was! For most of the weekend we had warm sunny weather and no rain.
When we arrived on the Friday lunchtime, we set up and had a wander down to the beach. One thing I love about this campsite is that it is on its own gorgeous sandy beach. The kids had a great time paddling and digging for shells, but after about an hour they were getting cold so we strolled back and got them changed before heading to the bar for a couple of drinks and a play in the games room.
The next day was bright again and we decided to head off to Harlech castle as it looked well preserved.
It was lovely, really big, lots of spiral staircases and steep drops that gave Fran and I heart failure every time we went up! The views were amazing and the coast just stunning.
We headed back to the tents for a picnic lunch and then drove to Barmouth for a wander and an ice cream. While we were there it got cooler and a bit windy but that didn't stop the kids from playing in the sand dunes!
Sunday morning was glorious so we decided to pack up the granny bags and head off for a day on the beach.
We had a brilliant day, we set up near the sand dunes so that pleased the kids who probably spent half of the day in them, hiding and running up and down! In between they managed to have a splash in the sea, dig and build sand castles and go on a shell finding mission!
I love being on the beach and this was no exception. We trudged back about 6ish and decided to go and have a drink while the children played and get chips on the way back for tea.
I think the sun had worn us all out though as we were all tucked up for 10.30pm!
The following morning we had a start getting ready to go home, but we all agreed we had had a fab weekend and would definitely do it again!
