Books 3, 4 and 5 #50Books2013

This year I am linking up with Julie, Mama Owl for the #50books2013 challenge. You can link up here too, if you fancy a reading challenge.

Anyone who knows me will confirm I am an avid reader, Mr W used to complain when my holiday suitcase contained at least 14 books (one for everyday we were away!) Since having children though, it has been harder to maintain this hobby as I am usually too tired to read now!

So this will be a challenge, but a fun and hopefully relaxing one too!

Watch this space to see how I get on...

Book 3

Another Kobo reader book!
This is a book of stories from Sheila O'Flannagan that have a range of different characters but that are all good, light hearted fun and easy to read. The stories are lovely and can be related to, with characters with young children, stresses of family life and work. At the end there is as sequel to Isobel's Wedding, for anyone who read that book.

Books 4 and 5

These are a couple of my favourite books ever! They are ones I have read loads of times and love re reading.
Some might find that strange, but if I have enjoyed a book I will re read it over and over again.
These books are about Venetia Summers and her family and follow a couple of years as she chaotically meanders through country life, following her husband running off with his masseuse. Her boys and baby daughter 'The Beauty' are so real they could be my friends!
If anyone has read these, I would love to know what you thought, and if not, give them a go, you might just love them as much as me!

Reading List

1. Winter Warmers by Carole Matthews (Kobo free download)
2. Letters From Chicago by Cathy Kelly (Kobo download)
3. From The Heart by Shelia O'Flanagan
4. Hens Dancing by Raffaella Barker
5. Summertime by Raffaella Barker

Week 6

Day 34

We went to Lymm Dam for a lovely wintery walk.
It looks sunny here, but it was really cold! We took the ducks some lunch and tried to avoid the swans!
If you would like you can read more of this here.

Day 35

On Monday, Ben discovered Cbeebies on my mum's laptop and has wanted to be on it ever since!
At the time I wasn't sure why he wanted to wear his hat, he kept saying he was cold! I know know this was because he was coming down with a nasty chest infection, that resulted in a ridiculously high temp and a trip to out of hours on Tuesday night.

Day 36

Ben has been focusing on 'Room on the Broom' at playgroup and he painted this super cat from the story! I think he had just a tiny bit of help! No matter what he is very proud of it!

Day 37

I had a poorly boy at home today, who spent the day in his jammies. He is playing with all the Peppa Pig bits here.

Day 38

Megan was making things for Chinese New Year at Brownies tonight. She made this lovely hat and a lantern. They look great!

Day 39

It was the Valentine's School Disco tonight. Here are the three giddy kippers before they went in!
We had a lovely time, lots of dancing and jumping, hot dog eating. As part of my PTA role I was supervising and  tidying up afterwards. I was having a joke with Jack not to go with any girls into dark corners and certainly no kissing! He didn't find me amusing!

Day 40

Megan must be going through a growth spurt at the moment! Here, she is sat on the kitchen side munching her way through the contents of my cupboard!
What with the make up and this I feel like she has turned into a teenager 5 years too early!!!

Photo Of The Week - Week 6

Team Lloyd

Photo Of The Week

I am linking up with Louise from Team Lloyd for Photo Of The Week. Louise will post a linky on her blog for us to link our photos up. If you fancy joining in, click here.

It is an opportunity to capture a special moment from the whole week, something that happened, something that you saw or something that you want to remember.

Week 6

This week I have captured my gorgeous girl putting on make up in the bathroom!!!
She was very intent on what she was doing, blusher, eye shadow, lip stick, all being carefully applied.
I managed to snap this without her noticing me.

I think I am very worried now! She is not yet 8! Can you imagine what she will be like in 6 years time?!

Lymm Dam

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

We spent the afternoon having a lovely walk around Lymm Dam.
It was cold and muddy, but dry so we wrapped up with hats and scarves and headed out.
We took lots of bread to feed the ducks and they certainly enjoyed it, almost as much as Megan and Ben enjoyed feeding them!
Megan was a bit freaked out by the swans, probably my fault as I don't like them, started by a flock of them chasing me years ago at Sale Water Park!
After feeding the ducks we strolled around the dam. It's a lovely walk, over little bridges with little waterfalls, fallen logs for climbing, and a few carved animals to spot too.
Ben was on the hunt for mice. He kept looking for 'mouse holes'!
Megan was looking for things to climb on and even climbed a tree!
We stopped and had a drink and some biscuits and talked about coming back when the weather was warmer for a picnic.
A fantastic afternoon stroll.
We also treated ourselves at 'The Gob Stopper.' This is a lovely sweet shop, with lots of sweets from long ago.
You can't go for a walk round Lymm Dam without stopping at the sweet shop too!

Country Kids at Coombe Mill 2nd February 2013

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

I am linking up with Fiona from Country Kids From Coombe Mill, which is all about getting outside with the kids and having fun! That is something we love doing here and try and get out on a regular basis.

Saturday 2nd February

This was us at the park, enjoying the cold weather. Megan and Ben had a great time on the slide and wooden play equipment, and we even managed a bit of a walk, but not too far as it was so cold.

Day 27
Ben had moon dough from Father Christmas so Megan and Ben had great fun being creative!

Day 28
The barbies and ponies were getting a good wash!

Day 29
Megan had her Presentation Mass in preperation for her First Holy Communion. All the children were presented with a special medal to wear at mass. She had a class mass on Tuesday morning so i took a picture of her with her medal before school.

Day 30
Megan had the topic of The Vikings and this is her long boat that she made at school.

Day 31
Our cat, Jake, was very comfy on the sofa!

Day 32
Ben, Daddy and I had a game of Hungry Hippos before bed. It is currently one of Ben's favourites, and one of mine too!

Day 33
The sun made a brief appearance today and looked lovely in the garden.

Photo Of The Week - Week 5

I am linking up with Louise from Team Lloyd for Photo Of The Week. Louise will post a linky on her blog for us to link our photos up. If you fancy joining in, click here.

It is an opportunity to capture a special moment from the whole week, something that happened, something that you saw or something that you want to remember.

Week 5

This weeks photo of the week is one I should probably have published the first week, as it is slightly Christmas related, I know, I know, but bare with me! And then the snow arrived and overtook everything else, (and I forgot!)
You may remember that before Christmas we went to a Christmas party at Mr W's work and the children painted their own mugs, thanks to Minikin. They were taken back, fired and then brought back to work where they were distributed.

Anyway, these are the finished products. What do you think?

Megan's is the snowman one and Ben's is the hand printed reindeer.
They both love them and they get used a lot.
