Week 8

Day 48

Ben plugged himself into Megan's IPod Shuffle to listen to a bit of Moshi Monsters!

Day 49

A bit of bubble fun before bed!

Day 50

Out in the sun at Wythenshawe Park. Bikes, scooters, trees, fun and friends.

Day 51

Ben went down the big slide at the park! It was the first time my heart wasn't in my mouth! He is growing up so fast now. I will be able to sit on the bench this summer, instead of chasing him all around the park!
(And watch Laura chase Grace!!! Sorry Law!)

Day 52

Megan and Ben made soda bread! My budding little bakers! Yummy!

Day 53

Ben checking out our new fish!

Day 54

Look what we bought today! Um Bongo, um bongo, you drink it in the congo...
Brings back memories of my mum buying this for me and my sister when we were younger.
And it's still as lovely!

February Half Term

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

I am linking up with Fiona from Country Kids From Coombe Mill, which is all about getting outside with the kids and having fun! That is something we love doing here and try and get out on a regular basis.

Saturday 23rd February 2013

It has been a funny one this half term. The weather has been cold and bright so we have spent quite a bit of time outside, even though Ben has had a sore tongue, which has made it hard for him to eat and drink anything and has resulted in practically no sleep for me for three nights which is probably why I have come down with a stomach bug and am writing this after a long day of feeling unwell, but hopefully on the mend.

Saturday
Went out on bikes and scooters to the park this morning. Played pooh sticks on the way.
Megan was sleeping at nanas tonight so she went there after lunch while the rest of us went shopping.

Sunday
We picked Megan up and went to the fish shop to buy some new fish for our tank. The tank is in the kitchen, it used to be tropical and is a bit of a mix at the moment, which surprisingly works.
We then had a McDonalds as a treat.
Ben was at a birthday party, so we went there and Megan decided to go to the park with auntie laura, Jack and Grace. Finished off with blowing bubbles in the garden before it was too dark.

Monday
Megans friend was coming for a sleepover so we picked her up and popped to a friend of mine who I haven't seen for a while for catch up.
Home with giggly girls, who were making each other up! They had a lovely evening together and I think they dropped off about 10.30pm. Not to late!

Tuesday
We went out to Wythenshawe Park with S and K and all 7 children on bikes, scooters, balance bikes etc. Lovely day again but very cold.
We had a picnic lunch, a play in the play area, a walk around the farm and a ride round the park itself.
We then headed to The Coach House, which is a Brewers Fayre with a soft play area for our complimentary meal as our Christmas meal there was such a disaster. Let's just say it wasn't success and we won't be returning there again. Shame really when we have been there so many times and always had a Christmas get together there. We will have to have a look for somewhere similar for next Christmas.

Wednesday
Grace and Jack were here today so after lunch we headed to the other park for a play. We went in the car as it was so cold and I knew Ben wouldn't walk that far not feeling well.
We didn't stay too long as it was cold!

Thursday
Ben still wasn't well so we had a lazy morning. We baked soda bread and made soup.
After lunch we went to the community centre for an afternoon of family fun. Loads of activities, all free of charge, face painting, glitter tattoos, decorate your own plant pot and fill it, make a moctail, circus skills, making things out of recycled materials, Megan made a purse out of a juice carton! And loads more!

Friday
We should of been going to MOSI today with mum and Laura, but Megan went as me and Ben weren't feeling well enough.
They had a lovely time, we always do when we go there.
So that's the week so far, and we have still got the weekend to go, which I think will be quietish before back to school and playgroup next week.

Week 7

Day 41

We had a lazy Sunday. We played with the Thomas trains, did homework, watched telly and just relaxed.

Day 42

Bedtime stories. Ben has a story before bed every night. Megan enjoys sitting and listening too although she has one downstairs too! Bens favourite at the moment is Peppa Pig.

Day 43

Pancake Day! After school, Laura and I took the kids up to church were there is a cafe and we had yummy pancakes. Megan really enjoyed them this year and had lots! Ben less so, but had a couple of the small ones you can buy. Mr W and I also had some for tea, so this year we have all enjoyed our pancakes on pancake day.

Day 44

Ben very kindly share his ice pop with Grace. It won't be long till she wants one of her own!

Day 45

Valentines Day. Look what I received from Mr W!
Megan was very intrigued about her cards and one in particular has kept her guessing!

Day 46

The last of my very yummy Christmas cake has been finished. Not to worry, it's only 8 months till I start the next!

Day 47

Fun at the park! Setting sail for somewhere hot!

Saturday 16th February 2013

We had a fantastic walk this morning. The sun was shining and it was a gorgeous morning.
We had our usual stroll along the brook, collecting sticks to throw in at the bridge.
Megan took her bike, so was whizzing along. Ben was on his scooter, it is amazing how fast he can go on that! Grace was with us, well wrapped up in the buggy, having a snooze.
We spotted a few birds, a plane and very excitedly saw little flowers coming through! Not sure what they were. (My mum would know!) Spring is on its way!
We had a little play at the park before heading for home. Ben is getting very brave on the swing and wanted to go HIGHER! Megan can swing all the way across the monkey bars now too!

Review of Magic Moves Wand

We were sent the Magic Moves Wand from Learning Resources.

Learning Resources is a company I love, both as a parent and as a teacher. In my opinion their products are top quality and reasonably priced.

Magic Moves is an active, high energy game designed to develop gross motor skills, creative expression and listening skills.

Ben was very excited to have a go. The wand is very easy to use. There is a play button and a repeat button and two volume levels.

The green play button has 90 different commands, with accompanying tune and light show.
Commands such as, 'dive like a dolphin' and 'growl like a wolf' give children an opportunity to tap into their creative side and when playing it with older sisters or mums, like we did, it becomes really good fun, to see who can listen and follow instructions with lots of expression.

The wand helps to develop language skills and familiarity of new words, such as strut, slither, glide and stomp. Ben needed help with these words, but older children should be fine. The wand is aged 3+ bye Ben is 3 and half so it is ideal for his age and up.

The only downside to this wand is the fact that the voice (Kelly Miyahara) is American and can be a bit hard for little ones to understand, even I struggled with some of the commands as to what she was saying.

You can visit the Learning Resources website here and have a look at all the lovely things they have no offer.

We were sent the Magic Moves Wand from Learning Resources for this review. All opinions are our own.

Ben listening to the different commands.

    Megan stomping like a dinosaur.

    Ben growing like a tree.

    Ben slithering like a snake.

Week 7

This week my photo is of my gorgeous boy. It was taken when he was fast asleep in my bed.
He looks so angelic that I can forget what hard work he is at the moment!
It's moments like this, that catch in your throat and make you realise just how lucky you are.
(Whilst typing this, I have just had to rush upstairs as he has just fell out of bed! Bed guard is going back on tomorrow now!)
